How It Works
Most Ontario real estate brokerage transfers follow a straightforward online process. While every situation is unique, the steps below reflect how most Ontario real estate professionals transfer their registration today.
STEP 1
Contact Your New Brokerage
Your new brokerage will discuss your goals, answer your questions, and explain the transfer process before anything is submitted. This is also the time to discuss any current transactions, listings, board memberships, or questions you may have.
STEP 2
Complete Your RECO Transfer
Your new brokerage completes the brokerage transfer through RECO’s secure online portal.
For most Ontario real estate professionals, the online transfer process is completed in approximately 30 minutes. No printing. No scanning. No couriering paperwork.
STEP 3
RECO & Board Updates
Once your transfer has been submitted, RECO updates your brokerage registration. Where applicable, your real estate board membership and MLS access are updated as part of the normal transfer process.
Your new brokerage coordinates these steps with you.
STEP 4
Continue Your Business
Once your transfer has been completed, you simply continue your real estate business with your new brokerage.
For most agents, the transition is smooth, allowing them to continue serving their clients with minimal interruption.
