How Brokerage Transfers Work
Thinking About Moving To Another Brokerage?
Many agents assume changing brokerages is complicated.
In reality, transferring your registration from one brokerage to another is a routine process that takes place every day across Ontario.
Whether you’re looking for lower costs, greater flexibility, better support, or simply exploring your options, understanding the transfer process is the first step.
What Happens When You Transfer?
You keep your RECO registration and registration number. Your new brokerage typically handles the necessary RECO and board updates associated with your transfer.
In most cases, your MLS access, board services, user names, passwords, and email addresses remain unchanged. For most agents, it’s business as usual.
A Quick Reminder
Before transferring to a new brokerage, take a few minutes to review any agreements you may have with your current brokerage. Notice requirements, contractual commitments, and other obligations can vary from brokerage to brokerage.
If you are unsure about your obligations, consider obtaining independent advice before proceeding.
